This first release is not yet signed by Apple. Your Mac will say it cannot check the app. That is Apple being careful, not the app being broken. Open it this way, once:
  1. Open the .dmg and drag Common Room into Applications.
  2. Double-click Common Room. Your Mac says it was blocked. Press Done.
  3. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down to "Common Room was blocked", and press Open Anyway.
  4. Double-click Common Room again and press Open.
A signed release, which opens like any other app, follows as soon as our Apple developer account is through.

What happens on first run

  1. The app asks your name, and what you call a piece of work.
  2. It fetches its brain, 2.5 GB, from Hugging Face. Settings shows a bar. A dropped line resumes where it stopped.
  3. It signs up once with our cloud: your name, email, country, company, the app's version, an install key and the time. Nothing you say in any room ever goes with it.
  4. You are in your own room. Say something.

Needs

Coming

Windows, and the phone app, come after the Mac version has met its first strangers. The phone app is next.
